![]() I wanted to test for coil whine at 120-144 Hz with my Asus Swift but that machine is running Windows 10 LTSB which is incompatible with pascal cards. ![]() Playing doom it will squeal a bit at the load screen but quiets down during actual gaming. At 60 Hz under load with MadVR, there is a continuous clicking noise (not from the fans / possibly coil whine) but cannot be heard outside the case. ![]() My 1070 boosts over 2000 core with a +500 memory OC. I think the only other card that offers (2) hdmi ports is the top shelf Gigabyte, but uses an expansion card. It has (2) HDMI 2.0 ports which is useful for VR and simultaneous connections to a TV and an AVR. I have (2) 780 classifieds and EVGA's fans suck in comparison. I picked up the OC version for about $420 at Jet using SHOP10 code and it shipped from Newegg in CA. Mine never exceeds 65 C with the fans below 50%. Hit the back button and your settings are saved. The STRIX is still a very nice GPU. We can set the fan curve to turn on earlier or later, bring the high-end max temp limit downward if necessary and set the fan speeds higher to compensate extra voltage and overclocks if we're aiming for over 2GHz. The default User Define Setting is shown below: the fans switch on at 55.38C. It'll be set to auto, but you can set a manual fixed frequency or select User Defined to customize the fan curve. Next, fire up GPU Tweak II then go into professional mode (bottom-right button) where you'll see the Fan Speed (%) option. How to setup custom fan control in GPU Tweak II:įirstly identify one or two fans in your case that push air directly at your graphics card and plug them into your ROG Strix GTX 1080 or 1070. ![]() Ultimately it means your gaming PC can balance the use of GPU-linked case fans (via the bundled GPU Tweak II software) and motherboard-linked case fans (via Fan Xpert III) to optimize your build for best possible cooling : noise : performance ratio, any way you use it. This means when gaming you get better overclocks, sustained boost and more FPS performance, then, when you're not gaming the fans mirror the Strix 0db fan technology and turn off entirely, giving you a truly zero-noise environment. This improves the cooling performance by sucking in cool 'outside' air directly for your graphics card's use. ![]() This allows the user to sync GPU temps, and their fan speed, to chassis fans that are typically in the front, base or side panel. ![]()
